Our Story

Rusty Star is a family owned and operated business that is located in Northern Indiana. Since 2006, we have been one of the largest makers of professionally handcrafted rustic, personalized and custom made wooden clocks and signs and have been sold all over the United States, in Canada and overseas as well.

HISTORY
The history of Rusty Star starts back in 2006 when we opened up our first website under the name of Rusty Star Primitives. At that time, our product lines consisted of a wide variety of primitive and rustic home décor and our handcrafted signs. Not too long after we opened up, it became clear that the demand for our handcrafted signs was much higher than the rest of our home décor offerings. In 2007, we decided to drop all of our home décor products and focus only on our handcrafted signs. We then added personalized and create your own signs to our long list of signs and Rusty Star Sign was born.

ABOUT THE OWNERS
My name is Renee and I am the proud Owner and President of Rusty Star. I am married to my wonderful husband and very best friend, Dan and we have 4 incredibly awesome children.

Before starting Rusty Star, I worked full-time as a Customer Care Specialist for a local company who manufactured furniture for the healthcare industry and in my spare time you could always find me creating something. One of my favorite craft times was making signs. At first it was a sign here and a sign there and they were always to decorate our home. Then I started making them for family and friends who then encouraged me to take my talent and start my own business. With my desire to have a career doing something that I truly loved, I took the first step in starting Rusty Star (Rusty Star Primitives) and have never looked back.

I hold many, many positions here at Rusty Star, in fact, all of them except for one. The one position that I do not handle and is where the process of our signs and clocks starts, is the cutting and sanding of each and every board that is ordered. My wonderful husband is the man behind the always perfectly cut and perfectly shaped clocks, signs, photo frames and tavern signs and I think he is a pretty awesome guy! Aside from cutting out orders, Dan has a full-time job as a Crane-Operator at a local steel company and in his spare time he loves working on his 55 Chevy and spending time with us.

From the time the order is placed to the time it leaves our doors, my main focus is on you, the Customer. If the order placed is a create your own or a personalized clock or sign, you and I will be working one on one in the designing of the item until it is exactly what you were looking for. From there, each and every clock or sign is then painted, lettered, sealed, packaged and shipped out by me. You will not find a big fancy factory or any big fancy machinery here, where products are all mass produced. Your order is completely handcrafted by us and is given special attention from start to finish.

We love what we do and we take great pride in offering our customers with top-quality unique signs and providing them with excellent customer service.
